We've arrived - safe and sound - to Dusseldorf! Yesterday was a gorgeous day spent wandering the quiet, beautifully, (orderly) city. It feels a bit odd to be in such a western organized city as it's the first one in such a long time. Wide boulevards, designer shops, bike paths, public parks, and people who actually obey traffic signals! Very strange indeed. Yesterday we were blessed with beautiful sunshine as we strolled the streets, canals, the Rhine River and stumbled across a giant book fair. We enjoyed our first real German Beer Garten and have thoroughly enjoyed the various beers. Today it was an antique fair (too bad we can't fit anything more into our packs!) Now of course, it's raining and everything is closed (it's Sunday and not a tourist town - oops) Tomorrow we head to Colone, then Amsterdam in the middle of the week. Later, We'll put up photos of mainland Greece. It was a great whirlwind visit so some great sites.
Great picture of James, he looks so good all trimmed up. The pictures of Dusseldorf are very nice too. We're getting very anguish to see you both. Take care. Love MOM
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm so excited for you! Beautiful pictures. I've wanted to see that part of Germany but haven't had the chance yet. I so fondly remember the tree-lined boulevards and foot paths there. Happy birthday (a couple days ago) to Lizzi! I'm really looking forward to seeing you both. Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteSo I tried to comment and then there was an intra-web hiccup (aka disruption in the Matrix whatever)...basically I have a hard time believing you found somewhere people obey traffic signals. Although I could just be jaded by the AWFUL drivers in Portland....but that's beside the point. Love you bunches and keep enjoying yourselves.
